Hi, it’s nice to meet you!

My name is Shari, but I’m often called Boots. It’s a sweet nickname from a former patient who couldn’t remember my name but I can always be found wearing Cowboy Boots.

Welcome to The Flouring Home where you can find sourdough, simple & from scratch recipes that are nourishing to your body, mind and soul. We will deep dive into food preserving methods, some hunting, gardening, and a little bit of preparedness.

You can almost always find me in the kitchen with a cup of coffee and a chocolate lab, named Duke, at my feet.

I’m so excited for you to join me as we cook and bake from scratch. My journey with sourdough has been, well, my whole life. My sourdough starter came from my dads starter who received his from my great grandfather. One Christmas, he didn’t have much money but he gave us the greatest gift, part of his starter. My great grandfather was a cowboy in the Owyhee Mountains of Idaho. He would ride the range going from cabin to cabin, leaving his starter behind hanging from the rafters so that he would always have his starter wherever he went. His sourdough legacy has been passed down to us. Our starters hail from a starter that’s at least 80 years old. When I bake, I have him with me. Sourdough is in my blood, it’s a part of who I am. Sourdough is my culture.
