My chick philosophy is this: Quality in, means qua My chick philosophy is this:
Quality in, means quality out

These girls are a gift for me to steward well.

They’re not just pets but a source for food

I want them to have the very best food and herbs so that as they grow and eventually lay eggs they get the very best nutrition possible in their starter, grower and layer ages.

I want feed that actually makes sense. As someone who checks the ingredients in my own food I check the ingredients for my girls.

I can actually SEE the ingredients in their food: wheat, barley, peas, flaxseed, fish meal and it’s not full of corn or soy or fake ingredients

These ladies are an extension of my family and as such they’ll eat just as good as we do.

“Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭
THIS IS YOUR SIGN… It’s time to get a grain mill THIS IS YOUR SIGN…

It’s time to get a grain mill

It’s time to start baking with fresh milled flour

Did you know:

Freshly milled flour has a deeper nutrient profile: more vitamins and minerals available for our bodies. This happens because you’re not sifting out the bran, germ, or middlings or using chemicals to whiten the flour or adding chemical preservatives that extend shelf life.

Whole grains can help regulate blood sugar, sustain energy, boost metabolism, satisfy hunger and decrease cravings (due to fiber and protein in the berry)

Food really is medicine when we take the time to slow down and create. we can get a much better product that brings us new flavors, different nutrients and enhances the baking experience.

Genesis 1:29 “And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food”.”

Spot & Speckles graced us with their appearance last night and seeing these two fawns is just incredible

As a hunter and lover of the outdoors, the things I’ve been able to see lately is truly humbling, outstanding and heartwarming: fawns nursing on their mamas, wild turkeys and their babies, little pheasants flying

Never take where you live for granted

When you score, Are you moving with a purpose and When you score,
Are you moving with a purpose and intention or are you going slow, sawing with your blade or hesitating?
You should be moving with a purpose. Don’t think. Just do. EVEN IF this means you have “simple scores” the more you practice the better you’ll score.

And do be honest, I’m not artistic. I can barely draw a stick figure so “fancy” scores aren’t my jam and to be honest they’re don’t add to flavor

Scoring does help to tell your bread to “expand here” do you have to score? No. You could just flip that dough and bake it your dough will expand wherever it wants to and it’ll create a very rustic and homemade look and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

You also want your dough to be cold and not room temperature

An over fermented dough will be a sticky mess and the dough and the score won’t hold its shape.

Use a clean and sharp knife or razor blade not anything gummed up.

If you’re new here! Hi! My name is Boots and I’ve been using sourdough my whole life.

My way of utilizing sourdough is different than what I currently see and I’m on a mission to share THE COWBOY WAY of making sourdough
Sourdough is my culture Sourdough is the means to which I create bread at home

And sourdough is my heritage, it’s my way to preserve my great grandfather’s legacy.
Happy baking!

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47
This is the the most important information I could This is the the most important information I could ever give you

And it’s the message that’s been heavy on my heart the past few weeks

THE most important BREAD you could possibly know is THE BREAD OF LIFE HIMSELF

You will hunger and thirst no longer because HE satisfies your every need.

John 6:35

It’s no secret I love a fully stocked pantry But It’s no secret I love a fully stocked pantry

But when buying in bulk isn’t an option, your short on space or your grocery budget is just plum tight, I love the one for now, two for later model

It allows you to subtly plus up your cupboard without the overwhelm of a whole case

When you put your items away and organizing, remember first in, first out. Date your items with a sharpie for easy to see expiration dates

Now I do love buying in cases. My usual bulk items are canned tomatoes, green beans, corn, bulk grains and nuts/nut butter

…
Now I wish I could take credit for the one for now, two for later but I learned it from @jordanpage YEARS ago and it’s been a game changer.
…

Because I live rurally having a well stocked pantry means fewer trips to town and to the grocery store, we get creative when we run out and I usually only shop about once a month and end up “shopping” from the CANTRY

My favorite store for all of this, comment PANTRY for the details
