Lemme see those loaves! Also yes I meant most…aut Lemme see those loaves!

Also yes I meant most…autocorrect did me dirty 😝
I wish more home gardeners would talk about growin I wish more home gardeners would talk about growing plants suitable for your environment

My favorite conversation starter is to share I’m growing kiwi or figs in a zone 5 climate and the IMMEDIATE reaction is:
YOU CAN GROW THAT HERE?!

When you know your climate, it can open up a whole new world of plants to grow.

While I may not be able to grow large fuzzy kiwi, kiwis berries (about the size of grapes) can thrive in my climate.

{fun fact: on reason I chose kiwis was to honor my great grandfather who used to grow them in his garden and yes that’s the same great grandfather my sourdough hails from}

But you can also make decisions about growing a patio meyer lemon tree knowing it will love summer but should be protected inside during the winter.

If you want the easy option, add your zip code to the @fastgrowingtrees website to filter what you can grow successfully in your backyard garden

Happy gardening!

Food is a love language For me, caring for my fa Food is a love language

For me, caring for my family looks like from scratch

Seldom do I use packaged or heavily processed foods, those are reserved for when I’m sick or under the weather as I’m the cook for my family

I truly believe ingredients matter, quality in quality out

We are all in our own stages of life so do what’s best for you.

Do your best to focus on quality first, the very best you can do for your budget.

99% of the time, I preserve the foods we actually 99% of the time, I preserve the foods we actually eat

But once in a while, I just have got to let my creative streak loose and well…

Banana Cream Puffs happened!

One box vanilla wafers
One bunch bananas
Cream Puff Cream

Line your freeze dryer trays with parchment paper and start placing the wafers down (one box per two medium trays)
Place sliced (1/4” thick rounds) on top of each wafer
Spread cream puff cream on top

PREFREEZE!!!
And run!

My other two trays I dolloped the cream into rounds

Enjoy immediately or save to have a fun treat later

We’ll use the dolloped cream for hot cocoa or I’ve already used them in my coffee for a fun drink.

Happy preserving!

Home is my favorite place to be Home is the plac Home is my favorite place to be

Home is the place I’ve prayed for and over for so long and now I get to be in the midst of the blessing I’ve been longing for

Home is where I’m cultivating roots and stewarding what’s been placed in front of me

Home is where I chase the slow rhythms
