Point of View: If I’m not prioritizing MY health, I cannot serve my family to the best of my ability.
If you are anything like me, my to do list is ever growing. I make our meals from scratch, which means my day is filled with dishes, chopping and cutting. I am always preserving, always baking.
There is always laundry and always little Duke hairs (because labs don’t shed, they sprinkle glitter everywhere).
If I continually push away the things that I KNOW make me feel better to only replace them with more tasks or other things, I will run out of steam, out of energy and my body will FORCE me into rest.
Illness is reactive. Wellness is preventative.
So what do I do? How do I focus on my health while serving my family?
Taking care of my self and my health is not selfish. I don’t necessarily view it as self-care but it is saying I need a few minutes to fill my cup so that I can pour out to serve you even better.
I will have a list of resources at the end of this and the discount codes you need, should you decide you would like to work towards a healthier you.
My Daily Musts:
I make sure I’m taking my vitamins and minerals and electrolytes every day.
I use tea at night to wind down (because I could drink coffee all day/everyday).
I prioritize protein as much as possible.
I eat fermented foods to support my gut health. (hello, sourdough!)
I also:
- prioritize whole foods and from scratch meals (if you would like a tailored approach to meal planning, I highly suggest this meal plan). I subscribe to the thought of eating nutrient dense foods as much as possible.
- strength train using the beyondfitmom.com workouts (or this combination of workouts plus meal plan) These are QUICK and effective total body workouts that take me anywhere from 5-30 minutes. You don’t need hours at the gym, but a concentrated focus, focusing on balancing hormones and building muscle.
Your priorities and daily must haves may look different and that’s wonderful and beautiful. We are each uniquely and wonderfully made!
Just do one thing today so that you will feel better tomorrow!
5 Ways to Prioritize your Wellness
- Go for a Walk: spending at least 10 minutes a day outside, slow and leisurely walking will help reduce your stress hormone cortisol
- Prep Protein: Roast a whole chicken weekly and slice for an easy meal. Hard boil eggs. Have cottage cheese available. Meal Prep an egg scramble.
- Prioritize 2-3 strength training workouts, again 5-30 minutes a day is all it takes to see results
- Establish a routine: I thrive on routine and schedules. Establish a routine and plan it out! Write out what youre going to do and treat it like an appointment or meeting that you cannot miss.
- Hydrate! Dont just drink water. Drink water with electrolytes or BCAAS to help replenish your cells with minerals and amino acids lost during your workout and from doing your daily activities.
Resources, Links and Discount Codes
These are the brands I love and personally use:
- perfect supplements for beef liver (nature’s multi vitamin), Acerola powder (whole food vitamin c), collagen and gelatin (in my daily coffee & baking)
Code SOW10 helps you save AND will stack upon their discounts too! Now one more quick note, because I use collagen, enhance and maximize the absorption of collagen I pair this with vitamin c (acerola powder) and take beef liver (at least 30 minutes before or after anything with dairy/calcium) as the beef liver contains zinc and copper to also enhance the uptake of collagen. Years of playing sports and my knees thank me for the collagen.
- TEAS: traditional medicinals or mountain rose herbs: I buy these through azurestandard.com
- equip foods for colostrum (gut health and allergies) & prime protein contains 6 or less ingredients and it’s SO GOOD! My favorite flavors are vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Discount code: FLOURING
- Electrolytes (that are good, clean mineral rich salt!!!!) the one and only Redmond Relyte Redmond Real Salt I will not use anything else. I love the Kosher salt and for electrolyte flavors: Mango, strawberry lemonade, and mixed berry are my go to’s! Discount Code: FLOURING
- Fermented Food: Anything from bubbies pickles (especially the spicy dills or spicy sauerkraut) or wildbrine. I shop monthly through azurestandard.com because living in a smaller town, our stores just don’t have a wonderful healthy selection. My town has an Azure Drop, so shopping Azure for groceries is a priority for us.
- I will also make my own fermented food and use cultures for health kits and cultures (use code SHARI15X to save). I love their kombucha and milk kefir kits.
- One additional resource is skin care. I am always in a hurry and I find myself needing to slow down, when I am applying my skin care I am frequently reminded to slow down and breathe. If I am not using my own tallow balm, I reach for the Toups & Co Frankincense Balm and Charcoal Bar. Use code FLOURING to save
I hope that these resources help you make some decisions about your health. I hope that you feel encouraged to pursue a healthier you to better serve your family.

You are so right. I’d rather play offense rather than attempt to clean up after mistakes. Love the Redmond products, sourdough, and culture for health kits. Great tips!
